Discobrothers are music writers and producers Harald Reitinger and Ulrich Fischer.

In the early ‘noughties’, the duo released a wonderful single with Limahl as featured vocalist.  ‘Love that Lasts’ is a huge slice of European electro-pop and was issued by BMG/Ariola for the European market to much furore back in 2002.

This is a great track and an essential addition to your Limahl collection!  You can purchase the track HERE.

Fancy a sneak preview?  Take a peek at this YouTube clip as uploaded by YouTube user ‘seahorse737′.

This clip has a nice gallery too 😉

Discobrothers went on to make an album featuring other stars such as Tony Hadley, Leee John, Sinitta, Bananarama and Right Said Fred – check it out!

Nick Beggs in Bassist and Bass Techniques Magazine

September 11, 2012

Features about Nick Beggs always get great viewing stats here on KajaFax, and we hope that today will be no exception.

The below pages were originally published in 1995, and we at KajaFax are really pleased to be able to provide all fans of ‘The Beggion’ with an opportunity to revisit the magazine…

Interestingly, KajaFax wrote an article some time ago discussing Nick’s work with former Duran Duran guitarist Warren Cuccurullo.

Interested in that?  Check out this link:

The Mystery of the Too Shy Promo Pack!

September 4, 2012

Kajafax are always interested in unusual items and today’s feature is a bit of a curiosity.

What have for you today recently came into our possession as a part of a job lot, and is described as a “promo pack” for debut number one single Too Shy. The pack consists of a red label 12” (test) pressing of the single complete with rubber stamped text that simply says Kajagoogoo – no song title.  The plain white outer sleeve is hand written with the title “Too Shy eye to eye” and has that musty smell and paper discolouration that only 30 years in storage can bring!  Inside the sleeve is the vinyl complete with liner, and two black and white 10×8 promotional photographs of the band, as photographed by Sheila Rock.

Items like this always attract interest on site, and we are hoping that somebody can throw a little light on the history of this pack.  Is it simply a marriage of singular items bundled together for convenience, or did EMI Records issue these packs pre-release to radio stations to promote the band?  Whatever its history, the test pressing (if that’s what it is) is in mint condition as are the photographs and are surely of some historical relevance.

If you think you know more about this ‘promo pack’ please either leave a comment at the bottom of this post, or email us at admin@kajafax.com with your views.

Thanks for reading KajaFax – your continued support is greatly appreciated by all at KajaFax HQ!

The Circuit Symphony – Oracle

Astute readers of KajaFax will recognise the name ‘The Circuit Symphony’ and rest assured this is a name you are going to hear more from.

We are delighted to say that the debut album ‘Oracle’ is released on Monday 3rd September by our friends at REDDot Music and this is one not to be missed.

After years of success producing music and sounds for the leaders in the music industry (Arturia, Cakewalk etc ) The Circuit Symphony bring you the debut album ORACLE.

KajaFax

Influenced and dedicated to the artists, instruments and fashion icons that brought electronic music to the contemporary scene during the late 70s and early 80s, ORACLE will bring you flavours from bands such as Space, Visage, Blancmange, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys and other classic artists from that era.

With guest appearances from Nick Beggs, Lu Cozma and Gemma Aguilar this album has something unique. ORACLE includes a new version of the popular track The Feeling Part One that was originally produced for the Arturia Jupiter 8v synthesizer.

The album was recorded and produced in Wales, UK by The Circuit Symphony ( aka Oliver Davis ) who has a wealth of experience in the electronic music world from The Circuit Symphony Studios in Wales.

We first brought ‘TCS’ to our readers back in 2010 when we featured the track ‘New Romantic’ with the unmistakable sound of Nick Beggs on bass:

Turn Your Back on Me – USA Promotional 12” Single

August 27, 2012

Good old fashioned vinyl is the foundation stone on which KajaFax was built, and we are always happy to bring you as many rare records as we can.

Today is no exception to that tradition, as we turn towards the United States of America and this promotional copy of the global hit single Turn Your Back on Me.

By 1984, the band was known as ‘Kaja’ stateside, and this single was taken from the album Extra Play which, also in a style different to the UK, was the American equivalent of the Islands album.

To bring today’s feature to a close, here is the video for that single and in keeping with the feel of the article it is the alternate version made specially for the American market…

Kajagoogoo – ‘GOOlden Wonder!

August 21, 2012

Today we bring you a rather unusual item.

Back in 1983, the world was a very different place…. There was of course no internet.  Added to that, pop music radio was on mushy old medium wave, with Rado 1 commanding the daytime listener and Radio Luxembourg dominating the evening audiences. Throw in a TV set with only four channels and you get the general idea. Back then, there was not as many ways to bring a product to the attention of the masses, and then go on to distribute it to them.  All of this meant that little promotional giveaways were fairly commonplace, and many a company dangled the ‘freebie’ carrot at their potential customers.  As a child/teen of the decade, I had more than my fair share of these goodies, and often saved my pocket money to purchase products that would otherwise remained alien to me, purely to collect the magical token from the back of the pack in order to send off for some such treat.  Promotional gifts that stick in my mind are audio tapes with All Clear shampoo, pop stickers from Weetabix and Shreddies, and some rather special James Bond posters from Smiths Crisps – doubly easy for me to save for as there was a Smiths factory in the town that I live and our next door neighbour was an employee.

So, what do Kajagoogoo have to do with all this?  Well, todays featured item features our lads on a promotional E.P. issued on behalf of Golden Wonder crisps.  Very much of mutual benefit to the featured artists as well as Golden Wonder, there are a few variations on this particular theme out there.

This edition is called The Golden Wonder Super Heroes E.P. and features tracks by Haircut 100, Thompson Twins, Bucks Fizz, Dexys Midnight Runners, Classix Nouveaux and of course Kajagoogoo.  Children up and down Britain will have invested weeks and weeks worth of spending money in potato snacks and probably eaten half their own body weight in crisps in order to obtain it!

Released on Haven Records under the catalogue number HAV1014, this new addition to the KajaFax archive really is a quirky little release!

I guess that this post would not be complete without giving the disc a spin…..1983 style!  Forget the modern deck and my high-end ‘posh’ player…..this is how the me of 1983 would have played the record…..on a then brand new tower system!  😉

enjoy this video of the band, performing the song live on Top of the Pops…..
