Nick Beggs with Warren Cuccurullo Thanks 2 Frank
Nick Beggs & Warren Cuccurullo – Thanks 2 Frank
by TheRaggedTiger
There are many times that the saying ‘it’s a small world’ is proven to be true, especially in the music industry it seems. This story follows on somewhat from Limahl’s meeting with Nick Rhodes back in 1982.
Warren Cuccurullo is an American musician, founder member of American act ‘Missing Persons’, and long term member of Duran Duran.
In July 1994 upon completion of Duran Duran’s Wedding Album tour, Warren took to the stage for his first solo show. The set-list included his own music, some Duran material, and some Frank Zappa songs. As a result of this, the material played that night would form the album that eventually became ‘Thanks 2 Frank’.
Warren entered the recording studio that August. He recruited ex-band mate Vinnie Colaiuta on drums, and enlisted our very own Nick Beggs on bass guitar.
Warren states on his website (www.warrencuccurullo.com)
“I knew it was do-able, and we got it done. It was beyond magic. The album was completely recorded in two days and mixed in three.”
The album also contains the talents of Talvin Singh, who has worked with Madonna, David Sylvian, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Björk amongst others.
It proudly displays the statement ‘There are no overdubs on this record’.
See if you can spot the Beggion on these performance clips:

Very interesting article. 🙂
it’s a great album!
Warren is a virtuoso.
It’s interesting that he has recruited Nick (Beggs) to play with him on so many occasions. I think that Warren obviously holds Nick’s talents in high regard.
😉
