KajaGooGoo Photo Amnesty
Have you got any pictures of the band or from a gig tucked away on your camera or phone?
What I’m hoping to do is put together a feature packed full of photos, particularly ones that haven’t been seen yet.
If you’ve got a photo of you or someone else with the band or a photo from a Goo gig, we’d absolutely love to see those. Let’s bring them all together and share them.
You know the sort, you go to the gig or meet the band, take 100 photos and then end up posting your favourite 5 on FaceBook and then the other 95 are left to rest! Let’s get those up here and enjoy them 🙂
Email your pictures to me and I shall turn them into a feature and share with all the Goo fans!

Nick Beggs with Kim Wilde Paris 2011
Here are some fantastic videos from the Paris show of the Kim Wilde ‘Come out and Play’ tour.

Lots of Beggion bass and Kim sounding and looking as great as ever.
Firstly, this wonderful montage of the show:

Limahl Don’t Suppose Japanese Test Pressing LP
I absolutely love these test pressings from Japan, they are very cool indeed. It’s also nice to continue sharing my own collection after such a fantastic series from Richard! This one is the ‘Don’t Suppose‘ album from Limahl. It’s a rare white label test pressing, it has studio labels and the Japanese press release on the front.
Click images for higher resolution versions:

I’ve not played this yet but going by the track times, I’d say that track 5 on Side A is The Greenhouse Effect. Also being a test pressing, you’d expect that to be the case.

Whilst there is Japanese vinyl to collect, I’m happy!

Richard Kompass: KajaGooGoo Collection pt1
When I checked my Inbox and saw I’ve received an email from Richard Kompass, my eyes did light up a little. I’d seen his name around various places and knew he had been a fan for a long time. Reading the email content sharing his collection with me, I had no idea exactly how much material was coming my way, and the high quality of his collection!!
Far too much for one feature is the answer, so here we have the Richard Compass Collection, split across a series of posts. This is in exactly the same order as sent by Richard, it won’t be broken down into groups of vinyl, tickets etc, it’s as it comes.
This feature begins with a story from Richard then into the memorabilia, over to Richard:
I am Richard Kompass from Sweden, I bought Too Shy and the Tears For Fears 12″ the same day. I think I already had the Smash Hits magazine with Kaja on the cover and TFF as centrespead, just a week or 2 later Kajagoogoo was on a TV show called Casablanca, when they performed this Car is Fast I knew I was going to support them forever. My town Halmstad is called the Liverpool of Sweden, not just for Roxette, but back then we had a great music scene, even Sex Pistols performed in Halmstad.
But we had one very great music shop called Pet Sounds, so when I bought Smash Hits or No One, Sounds or NME whatever and of course I always listened to Radio One, but I could get the records and promos, limited edions from all over the world very early from its release so it was almost as living in the Uk. Of course I could not see the bands live, but gradually when I became older I went to Gothenburg or Stockholm, and later to Copenhagen and of course 1985 I was 18 I went to Uk and to Germany to see my favourite bands. I never stopped following Kaja or Limahl but I was busy collecting TFF who became superstars all over the globe, Big Country who I am so glad is touring again, Men Without Hats that never stopped to surprise me, back to touring and of course the Cars, I just received Sad Songs the latest promo and the first Cars single since 1987.
001 Rocket boy info sent out by Nick, I also received one track promo, but it did not say promo, so I guess home made..
003 Esbjerg, the first ever real concert by Kajagoogoo, since 1983, I had the ticket and an expensive train ticket, but my women soccer team, halmia.se had an important match that day, it was hell, but I choosed the game and we won and later also the whole championship. I told this to Nick in person in Hamburg, I told him because he once said that people came up to him remebering Kaja and wanting Kaja back, and Nick in the magazine said his answer always was get a life: Yes, I also didnt have a life, so now when I have I choosed my team since I am the boss, but Nick laughed and had a good time with it all, and I did came to see the guys in Hamburg…
004 the Kajagoogoo 2004 concert that never happended, I bought this early 2005 on ebay
005 one of my best days in life…
006 the actual ticket, I was talking so much with Limahl, that I got some things signed but not everything, my fault because I just kept on talking
007 promo flyer, at the concert I also bought a super huge poster signed by the guys same photo as the flyer
008 back stage passes purchased on ebay
009 back in Stockholm 1989/90 an english guy had a great record store, I bought so many great items and rare releases, he had connections everywhere. I bought this item of him
Dortmund 2006, I am a great Borussia Dortmund fan, (Wolves also) but in 2006 Sweden played against Trinidad Tobago in the world cup, Limahl had released a new single, I won one from the German fan club signed, I must find it and send a photo, but Limahl, Alphaville, Bad boys blue (terrible) ,Howard Jones (not his best day) and Sandra were there, I was in the front row, I will try so send pictures, I even came in German newspapers, but Limahl did a great show. Limahl gave me a huge poster of him signed.
010 the ticket
011 promo flyer 2006
012 promo flyer front 1986
013 promo flyer back 1986
014 bought in Helsingborg back in 1983
015 bought in Gothenburg back in 1983
017 bought in Halmstad 1984
Huge thanks to Richard, stay tuned for pt2!
