Kajagoogoo in International Musician Magazine

April 25, 2012

Today we bring you some magazine scans taken from trade magazine International Musician & Recording World.

Published in June 1983 the magazine was a glossy heavyweight and carried a whopping £1 price-tag. The magazine was also aimed at the ‘business end’ of the industry and thus very far removed from the Smash Hits and Number One magazines also on the newsagent’s shelves at that time.

Interviews tended to focus more on the recording techniques, equipment and instrumentation favoured by the artists interviewed as opposed to the more lightweight approach of its pop rivals.

The magazine folded after seventeen glorious years in 1991.

A great feature and a different journalistic angle….

Groove Enforcers – A Little Closer (The Young Punx vs. Nick Beggs)

April 23, 2012

Once again KajaFax explores the world of remixes and remakes.

It is often said that ‘imitation is the sincerest form of flattery’ and over the years, tracks penned by Kajagoogoo have appeared on various other hits in various forms.

Today, we focus on one such remake by the Groove Enforcers featuring Danish vocalist Lyck.

Released in 2007, A Little Closer is basically a dance re-recording of the ‘Goo hit Too Shy, with remix CD’s following in both 2008 and 2009.  KajaFax has plundered its archives to feature the Limited Edition ‘Enhanced’ CD single – the enhanced bit being interactive content featuring photos, the video for the single, and the making of the video for the single.

Each alternate remix ‘maxi’ has its own alternate cover art – click on the below to see each one:

So you want to hear the song?

Not ones to ever be accused of showcasing low quality content, we have pulled out all ‘the stops’ (whatever that means) to bring you this quality pop promo.

….and would we be satisfied with just showing you the video?

Not a chance! We want to go interactive too.

Do you love what Groove Enforcers have done, or do you hate it?

Vote below in our KajaPoll and make your voice heard!

If you were a ‘Like’ voter in our poll, you may be interested in Lyck’s current single, Keep Waiting, which can be purchased here.

KajaFax Exclusive Limahl Competition – The Winners

April 21, 2012

The moment is finally here when we unveil the three lucky winners of our Limahl competition!

First of all, the all important answers…..

Q1: Which singer provided the female vocal on the English version of my global smash hit single ‘The Never Ending Story’?
Answer: Beth Anderson

Q2: Which two groups do I have “on cassette” as mentioned in the lyrics of my current single ‘1983’?
Answer: Duran Duran and Soft Cell

Q3: In the video for which single taken from the ‘Don’t Suppose’ album, am I to be seen sporting cricket whites?
Answer: Too Much Trouble

From a modest start, KajaFax eventually registered an incredible 3,981 views on the competition pages, and received 134 competition entries – a little over half of which were correct.  We really are incredibly grateful for each and every person that took the time to enter!

Without further ado, may I announce the winners…..

Winner #1: Mandy Turner

Winner#2: Øyvind Blankvandsbråten

Winner #3: Peter Stanojevic

Congratulations go out to all of our winners, who we will be emailing later today to arrange delivery of their prizes.

A massive thank you is due to Greg and all of the staff at Gold Legion records, without whom, the competition would not have been possible.  KajaFax is run on a zero budget, so the donation of prizes was a massive help for us!

Finally, KajaFax extends a HUGE Thank You to Limahl for his question ‘sound bites’ which brought an interactive feel to the competition and made it so much more fun!
