Lovely performance, they look absolutely great!!
‘Shouldn’t Do That’ still sounds good 🙂
Retrofest is a great place for bands like Kajagoogoo as the audiences are huge.

Thanks for the clip, I really enjoyed that.

Yeah it’s a great track and they do look and sound great 🙂

I have mixed feelings on shows like Retrofest and Rewind. On one hand they are great for the exposure and to play to a huge crowd. On the other hand, the crowd just want to hear Too Shy and have no interest in the new stuff or tracks like Frayo. As a fan, watching one of these shows is great because it’s always fantastic to see the band perform but I’d trade a huge show like that for a smaller show with just the band playing and a carefully sculpted set list for sure!

I’d love to see Beggsy smashing out that Frayo bassline live!!

I agree with Steve (Kajafax). These festival appearances really are a ‘double edged sword’. I admit, large crowds, possible TV, and a high profile event to be seen at must be a huge plus for the band. The ‘retro’ tag is not – it’s no better than those solid 60’s type shows you see up and down the small theatres of the country. Kajagoogoo do not belong on the stage with artists like ‘Modern Romance’ and ‘Imagination’, as those bands are purely linked to the nostalgia circuit and have little or no interest in new material. I would trade 10 festival appearances for 1 full on Goo gig.

Having said that, what a great clip! We really need a full length show on a DVD or to download to showcase up-to-date Kaja performances.

All we have is the ’83 Hammersmith show and some audience clips on you tube……….

Absolutely agree, once you’re known as an eighties nostalgia act, the chances of being taken seriously as a band producing new material drops dramatically.

Who knows, maybe what the band needs is one of these new fangled cool producers to push them to a new audience. Get a new album produced by Calvin Harris or Mark Ronson or Timbaland!

Mark Ronson would be fab. Timbaland not so good……compare Duran’s ‘Red Carpet Massacre’ album to their current ‘All You Need Is Now’ album and hear the difference.

It is a nice idea though Steve. It’s just a shame that Mark Ronson isn’t a Goo fan. I understand that he produced the Duran album as he is a huge DD fan. I guess that being a fan makes the difference! Not to mention the benefits of him having his own label.
