KajaFax Reaches Half a Million!!!

December 31, 2014

We are absolutely delighted to see that today, KajaFax has achieved half a million hits!

Half a Million KajaFax Kajagoogoo Hits!

Since KajaFax was formed in 2010, we have been both surprised and proud at the longevity of our site and the loyalty of the Kajagoogoo fans.  The fact that we have hosted 500,000 visitors in a little over four years is testament to the power of the fans and their love of Kajagoogoo and their music.

KajaFax belongs not only to us, but also to each and every one of you that reads and subscribes to it.

We send our thanks to you for your interest in our website, and for sharing our love of Kajagoogoo.

KajaFax is brought to you by Steve Yeo and Steve Conley

“When we started the site  I never thought that we would be around this long! It’s great that four years later we are still here, not struggling but thriving! Approved by the band, KajaFax is the central point for all things ‘Goo on the internet and for that I am proud of what has been achieved. Bring on a million hits, and until the next time the guys regroup, let’s keep on flying the flag!”

steve C

“From starting this site in 2010, we had no idea that all this time later the site would still be thriving the way it is. We’ve had some incredible moments like the ‘Death Defying Headlines’ single release, meeting the band, appearing on TV and Radio and just having a lot of fun along the way. Chatting to the guys from the band is always a great thing for us and the interaction they have with us and the site is wonderful. It’s such a thrill to reach half a million and we’re gunning for the next half already!! Thank you to everyone who reads our site and gives us feedback and encourages us to do what we do.”

The timing of this landmark number of visitors coincides with another event….

Happy New Year to all of our readers! Here’s to a fabulous 2015!

HNY

Both Steve C and I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive THANK YOU to all of our readers for being so supportive.  As always, many of you have in the last year submitted your thoughts, comments and contributions to the site. We appreciate each and every one!

We both look forward to another year of bringing you the very best in all things ‘goo…..rest assured, if it happens, you will hear it from us first!!!  KajaFax will return tomorrow with the answers to KajaHunt 2014 and more importantly will reveal the names of those all important winners! See you soon!

All that’s left to say from the both of us here is…..

Steve Askew KajaFax Christmas Message 2014

December 22, 2014

It’s always a treat for us when we get something from the band to pass on to the fans and here we have a delightful little festive message to you all from Steve Askew:

KajaHunt 2014 – Day 20

December 20, 2014

‘KajaHunt’ Treasure Hunt Competition Day 20

Welcome to KajaHunt day 20, our final day!

KajaHunt Day 20 GraphicThe final day of KajaHunt questions for our 2014 quiz has arrived!

The clue of the day isn’t really a clue, but more of an introduction.  Take a look at this short video, featuring chief ‘goo Nick Beggs, recorded prior to a gig about a year ago:

Video footage courtesy of TC Electronic.

In the video, Nick explains how he began playing the Chapman Stick back in 1983.  Since then, he has used the instrument extensively, not only on Kajagoogoo recordings, but also on other Beggs projects such as Ellis Beggs and Howard and Iona.  As well as producing solo albums of stick recitals, Nick can regularly be seen with the instrument as a part of both Steven Wilson’s and Steve Hackett’s live bands.

The clue for this final Saturday is simple, so here goes:

Which Kajagoogoo track was the first to be recorded with the Chapman Stick?

So that is it for this year – all the questions for the 2014 competition have been revealed.   What you have to do is straightforward – just submit 20 correct answers , or as many as you can, to admin@kajafax.com any time from now until New Year’s Eve to be in with the chance of a prize.  For a refresher of what those prizes actually are, click HERE.

We wish you the very best of luck!

KajaHunt 2014 – Day 19 and Happy Birthday Limahl

December 19, 2014

‘KajaHunt’ Treasure Hunt Competition Day 19

 Welcome to KajaHunt day 19

garland-clipart-christmas-garland-clip-artchristmas-garland---christmas-garland-clip-art---christmas-garland-5lggbjcm

It’s the last Friday before Christmas, and it’s day nineteen of KajaHunt.  More importantly than all of that, it’s Limahl’s birthday.  On behalf of all of our readers, we send him our very best wishes for a terrific birthday!!  In honour of the occasion, we have been presented with this great caricature, which we hope you all like – thanks to Jordi for this great drawing!

It seems only right that today’s question should relate to the man himself, and so for today’s clue you need to listen to the below soundcloud clip, lifted straight from an interview with Limahl:

Today’s question is this:

Which important ‘happening’ in the history of Kajagoogoo is Limahl talking about?

Think you know the answer to that one?  Write it down as tomorrow is the final day of KajaHunt…

KajaHunt 2014 – Day 18 and Steve Askew Live on Stage

December 18, 2014

‘KajaHunt’ Treasure Hunt Competition Day 18

 Welcome to KajaHunt day 18

Holly garland

Our question of the day relates to a member of Kajagoogoo who is arguably one of the most active as a performing artist in his own right – Steve Askew.  Not only is Steve guitarist with Kajagoogoo, but he has been a member of Smalltown Elephants, has written and recorded with top notch female vocalist Lu Cozma, as well as written for, played with and produced many other artists. In a similar way to Nick, Steve has many facets to his musicianship as each of his musically very different projects illustrate.

Steve AskewSteve’s current project is a very personal one, and so low-key that some of you may not have heard about it. That project is the pop-rock band Bad Hombre, and not being ones to miss any band activity, KajaFax has dedicated a page to the group HERE.  KajaFan Sabrina has certainly noticed them, as she recently made the trip all the way to the UK from Belgium to see Bad Hombre perform earlier in the month.

When Sabrina contacted KajaFax to tell us about her planned trip, we couldn’t resist contacting Steve to let him know!  All round nice chap that he is, Steve was only too happy to assist….

“I was dancing all the time, so didn’t take a lot of pictures,  but I can share the three clearest ones!  That means it was a very good concert – or ‘gig’ as you would call it – with a great atmosphere!…and thanks for giving the message to Steve that I was coming to England! I found Steve Askew a very nice man and it was very pleasant to meet him”

KajaFax are really pleased that Sabrina had such a great night and a pleasant trip to the UK!

A massive thanks goes of course to Sabrina for sharing some photos of her night in Stony Stratford.

It is with all of the above in mind that we move on to today’s Steve Askew related KajaHunt question, which takes the form of a simple image. The question is:

What is the name of the device shown below typically used by Steve Askew?

Steve Askew uses one of these!

Think you know? Keep your answer safe – we only have two more days of questions to go!

See you tomorrow for what is an ultra-special day on any KajaFan’s calendar!

KajaHunt 2014 – Day 17

December 17, 2014

‘KajaHunt’ Treasure Hunt Competition Day 17

Welcome to KajaHunt day 17

Wednesday Garland

It’s already Wednesday, and time for the seventeenth question of this year’s KajaHunt competition.  We hope you are enjoying the questions this year and have managed to get all the answers so far!  Today, it’s a simple one.  No video clips to watch, cryptic clues to solve, or audio clips to scrutinise.

To begin, take a look at this newspaper cutting, taken from the Sun newspaper in May 1983:

KajaFax newspaper cutting 1983

The above article was printed on May 2nd 1983, the day before the opening night of the White Feathers tour in Margate at the Winter Gardens.  Our question for today is this:

What venue was the last to be played on the White Feathers UK tour, and on which date?

KajaFax will return tomorrow with the next instalment.  See you then!!

KajaHunt 2014 – Day 16

December 16, 2014

‘KajaHunt’ Treasure Hunt Competition Day 16

Welcome to KajaHunt day 16

drummersThe above festive clip art may well give you a clue as to which Kaja our Tuesday question relates to!

If not, here’s a more obvious clue…

Jez Strode Question

Jez Strode – one drummer drumming!

Jez is very popular with fans of the band and also with us here at team KajaFax!

Many of our KajaHunt prizes over the years have been supplied by Jez and we will always be grateful for the tireless way that he hit the promotion trail with us for the most recent Kajagoogoo single release, Death Defying Headlines, back in 2011.  To answer today’s question, you either need to be a good internet detective, or a Jez Strode ‘super-fan’!  Here’s the question:

Which south-west London football club does Jez support, often watching them at home matches?

Think you know the answer? Keep it safe as the end of the quiz is now in sight!

See you again tomorrow with question seventeen!

KajaHunt 2014 – Day 15….and Happy Birthday Nick Beggs!

December 15, 2014

‘KajaHunt’ Treasure Hunt Competition Day 15

Happy Birthday Nick

Welcome to day fifteen of KajaHunt and, more importantly, the birthday of Kajagoogoo bass and stick player Nick Beggs!  A particularly popular member of the band, Nick is a genuinely warm and friendly guy….probably why Kajafans like him so much!  He is also a fine musician and an incredibly charismatic stage performer, as anybody who has seen him play live (either with Kajagoogoo or as a part of another group) will testify.

Have a great day Nick – everybody here at KajaFax wishes you the very best!

To mark the occasion, we not only have a couple of great photos of Nick, but also have a question for you about the man himself.  This is a real teaser so no cheating!  Here’s the question:

To which Italian village did Nick and his friend Sal Solo make a pilgrimage in the October of 1983?

While you contemplate that, we will leave you with something to listen to. Featuring both Nick Beggs and Sal Solo,  here are ‘Rockets’, from the 1992 album Another Future.

To see more photos of Nick on stage as well as other great rock photography, please visit www.shirinkasraeian.de.  KajaFax would like to extend a huge thank you to Shirin for her assistance with today’s article.

See you again tomorrow!

KajaHunt 2014 – Day 14

December 14, 2014

‘KajaHunt’ Treasure Hunt Competition Day 14

Welcome to KajaHunt day 14

advent14As we hinted at in yesterday’s post, the question for day fourteen involves listening. We hope quite carefully too, as we really want this question to test you all!  What we have for you is an audio clip, comprising of six Kajagoogoo (or Kajagoogoo related) songs. What we would like you to do is name them.

Sounds easy? Well, not really…..

Mischievous as we are here at KajaFax HQ, Steve C and I thought things would be much more fun if we tweaked things a little, so we present a montage of songs for you now played in reverse!  There are six in all so listen closely.  Remember, it is the song titles that we are looking for, with each correct track identified scoring one point. Don’t worry if you don’t know them all, just name as many as you can.

Good luck!  See you again tomorrow!
