Best Wishes to Mega Fan Dave Kilburn
We’d like to extend our best wishes to mega fan ‘Dave Kilburn’ today as he begins a course of treatment.
The Kaja community was shocked and saddened when Dave recently announced that to us all that he had cancer. He’s an extremely popular guy and well loved by his fellow fans so Dave, we stand by your side and bestow you with Goo love!
After recent surgery, Dave starts his treatment today and it would be fantastic if all fans could send him their best wishes and warmest thoughts to see him through a rough day.

Here is the latest update in our promotional diary for the new single.
Tony Blackburn mentions the track on his Sunday show on Radio 2! We do hope this will lead to the track being played also.
Harborough FM DJ ‘Dave Smith’ tells us the track will get great support from the station and positive feedback has been coming from listeners.
Phoenix FM have playlisted the track and have said it’s a great track and will be giving it much airplay over the coming weeks.
London Chinese Radio have playlisted the track.
Forest FM have taken the track to playlist.
TD1 Radio have taken the track to review for their playlist.
Leith FM request a press pack and will take the track for a review for their playlist.
Radio Wave have taken the track for a review for their playlist, based on a recommendation from breakfast show DJ, Ged Mills.
DJ Chris Phillips continues to support the track, it gets played again on his Tuesday evening show.
More fantastic support from DJ Marty Dee Donovan, playing the track for us and giving his full continued backing to the release. Marty has been playing the track on a number of stations that he presents for, his efforts are noted!

KajaFax Announcement – Death Defying Headlines Availability Delay
Due to distribution issues regarding the digital release of ‘Death Defying Headlines’, iTunes can, at the present time, only offer the track as a part of the ‘Death Defying Headlines’ EP. They currently have both EP’s available to Pre order as a whole package – ie for the 4 tracks.

On the release date (12th June) the individual tracks will become available via iTunes as seperate downloads, as originally stated by KajaFax.
Amazon are now unable to provide the track on Pre Order. The song will still be available from them, but not until the actual release date of June 12th.
HMV and 7 Digital are a little behind with their Pre Ordering system, but assure KajaFax that the song will become available for pre-order no later than the beginning of next week.
Please be aware that you can still support the project by pre ordering either (or both) of the EP’s from iTunes for £2.49 for 4 tracks should you so wish.
KajaFax is aware that this situation is not as publicised, and advises customers who do not require all four tracks on the EP to delay their purchase until ‘Death Defying Headlines’ becomes available as a single and in its own right. We will keep you updated as soon as this happens.
All sales in whatever form will still go towards the overall sales count for the single, and towards getting the track ‘Death Defying Headlines’ into the UK Top 40.

Pre-Order Death Defying Headlines Tomorrow!!
Our start date is right around the corner and we’re really excited to see if we’ve made enough of an impact to make a real flying start.
Tomorrow, the single ‘Death Defying Headlines’ does become available for pre-order and this means then, you can start buying the single!
If you’re not sure what we mean by pre-ordering, or anything else about the release, please read on for the facts about what this is all about and why we’ve done it, in our full story question round up.
How did this single release come about?
We at KajaFax were constantly receiving comments and emails from fans asking us when the band were going to release something. We took that demand to the band, they listened.
So who is promoting the single?
We are, all of us, the fans! KajaFax submitted a detailed plan to the band to prove we had the capability to do the single justice on their behalf.
So what do KajaFax make out of this?
Financially, nothing. We’re doing this out of enthusiasm and a love for the band.
Pre-ordering, what is it and why do it?
When you pre-order something, you pay for it now and receive it later. Every pre-ordered single is crucial for us, they all add up to the actual release week to count towards a chart position. We’re doing it this way to increase our chances of a achieving exactly that, a chart position.
So we get five weeks of sales all in one go?
Essentially, yes. The chart is made up of file downloads rather than sales. Once we have our four week pre-order period, all of those four weeks of sales are then downloaded in the fifth week. That week is when we hope we’ve done enough to achieve a chart position.
When is that week?
The single becomes downloadable on June 12th 2011. Every pre-order is downloaded then and people can still buy it and instantly download it in that week. Sunday 19th June 2011 is the chart date of when we hope to see this single make a position.
What do I do next?
Pre-order the single tomorrow and spread the word as far as you can! It’s only 79p, cheaper than pretty much anything else you can buy! Even asking your friends to buy one as a contribution would be incredible.
Can I buy the dance mix or the EP instead?
Yes, the single from the dance mix counts as a valid sale towards the chart. If you buy the full EP, this also counts as a valid sales towards the chart for the single.
Can we really get this track into the charts, I mean REALLY?
That’s in our hands, REALLY! Sales figures vary weekly, there is no hard and fast figure to give. If we can secure sales of around 4000-5000, we can hit the Top 40. That’s achievable, we have five weeks. The biggest secret to making this happen are the golden words:
DON’T LEAVE BUYING IT TO SOMEBODY ELSE!!
So there we have it, hopefully everyone understands the reason for pre-ordering and is all ready to get busy buying the track!

We are in talks with many other radio stations about having the track playlisted.
You can help us by calling your local radio station and asking to hear the track, this will prompt stations to play it.
We will of course provide links to the track retailers when they go live and we will update you with weekly sales figures.
KajaFax will continue to work even harder to promote the single, we need your help more than ever now to get the message out there that this single is coming out.

On a final note, I’d like to mention the press packs. After publishing photos of the press pack, we’ve had many fans contacting us to request a copy. Although we understand these would be attractive to collectors, regretfully we are unable to supply these currently. We are working on a very small budget and our main concentration for the packs has to be UK radio stations, we can’t afford to run out.
If we have any press packs left at the end, we will of course endeavour to send these out to fans who have requested one.

Here is the latest information in the promotional work for the single.
‘SBC Radio’ playlist the song and request an interview with KajaFax about its involvement with the promotion.
‘Sine FM’ adds the track to their ‘A’ playlist.
‘Spectrum 80s Club’ take the track to put on rotation at their incredibly successful 80s nights at their club in Cobham, Surrey . The track gets its first spin in the club this coming Sunday.
KajaFax has also secured the services of the in-house DJ at the ‘Happy Days Festival’, who will play and promote ‘Death Defying Headlines’ during his set. The festival takes place in East Molesey this weekend over two days (May 28th and 29th) and attracts in excess of 5000 ticket holding visitors…..
Station Master Alan Walters of ‘ Gravity FM ’ confirms that his station have playlisted the track – ‘Death Defying Headlines’ received its premiere on the station during today’s drive time show’
Suffolk station ‘Park Radio‘ have added the track to their daily playlist.
Independant journalist and Scritti Politti musician ‘Rhodri Marsden‘ promotes the track on Twitter.
A very busy day at KajaFax with 779 daily hits.
We launched the new Death Defying Headlines group at Facebook, taking in over 200 members in the first day.

I really wanted to share this with everybody, it’s a thing of beauty!
It was essential to have an attractive professional looking press pack that we could send out to anybody that requested one, mainly for radio station use. We’ve already sent many out and this is sure to give us an advantage in terms of having the single getting onto playlists.
The press pack consists of CD, flyer and press release.
The CD is fully printed, housed in a plastic sleeve and sealed with a colour printed label:
The flyer is A5, full colour and looks superb. We have hundreds of these for wider distribution around many venues.
The press release is a two page document, also in colour. It documents all the key facts about the single and gives information that the DJ can read out when introducing the single. This press release is available from KajaFax and the Official Kajagoogoo Website.
We hope this gives more of a feel what is going on behind the scenes, many of these flying around to DJ’s and flyers anywhere we can get them!
I’m sure you’ll agree these look fantastic and these are all thanks to Steve Yeo, absolutely amazing work and all funded out of his own pocket.

Limahl submits quotes for the single release, backing KajaFax and his thoughts on the single itself.

With the release of ‘Death Defying Headlines’ just around the corner, we asked Limahl to let us know his thoughts of the song and the release itself.
Limahl said of the track:
As a song subject ‘Death Defying Headlines’ is quite dark and a reflection of where Kajagoogoo currently are in terms of age, perspective and perception of the world. It’s crying out and asking fundamental questions. It felt appropriate in the second verse to mention three headlines of the last 15 years – Princess Diana’s car crash, Versace’s murder and 9/11. Its a person despairing of the world, but somehow still filled with hope.
And of the release:
Through their love of the band and much hard work and tenacity, the fans have spoken and created this single release. Because of their actions, a bigger audience will get to hear our music. ‘Death Defying Headlines’ is a more grown up Kajagoogoo sound of which I am proud of. It has not been commercially available up until now, so a big shout out to Steve Conley and Steve Yeo for all their efforts.
