Limahl in Gniezno May 2011
Limahl in Gniezno, May 2011
The Polish city of Gniezno played host to a festival in May. Gniezno ‘Open City’ was a celebration of everything that makes the city of Gniezno both a beautiful tourist destination and the hub of cultural, historical and spiritual heritage for Poland. In religious terms, the city holds similar status as Canterbury in the UK.
The event was launched by a formal meeting between leaders of Gniezno and its various twin towns and cities, held in the Municipal Cultural Centre. Outside, numerous presentation stands were set up, promoting things such as local sports, tourist attractions and farming, whilst other events were taking place in relation to all things Gniezno. Curiously, in the State Historical Museum, an ‘open’ chess tournament took place!
The real jewel, and what interests us here at KajaFax, was the open air concert held that evening. The concert, sponsored by independent music publisher ‘Carney Records’, brought together leading performers on the Polish scene such as The Pupils, Groovebusterz, Wet Fingers, Candy Girl and Limahl.

Unfortunately, KajaFax has not been able to find any pro-shot TV footage of the concert. We do however have this audience recorded clip of Limahl’s performance. Thanks again to http://www.gniezno.com.pl for uploading this clip!
This one seems to have ‘slipped under the radar’ so far as UK fans are concerned, so we are pleased here at KajaFax to bring this feature to you.
